Education System Administrative Review

Nova Scotia is undertaking an Education System Administrative Review.

The goal of the review is to develop a student-centered education system with learning and success at the core, supported by high standards for teaching and leadership, curriculum and a strong administrative framework.

The review will look at:

  • How Nova Scotia public schools are administered
  • Elected school boards and their central office administration; and
  • The administration at the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.

The Province has engaged an independent consultant, Dr. Avis Glaze to conduct a comprehensive review.

Dr. Glaze is looking for feedback on three questions available at https://novascotia.ca/adminsurvey/

  • what administrative changes would you propose should be made to the education system to ensure the focus is on the needs of students?
  • what changes would you propose should be made to the Department of Education and Early Child Development?
  • what changes would you propose should be made to the administration of school boards?

The deadline for feedback is November 3.

Dr. Glaze will submit her report and recommendations to the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development in December 2017.
