Regional Education Services:

advises school boards and school board staff on educational matters, and advises the department on matters in boards that may be a cause for concern in the public domain

provides provincial-level leadership and support to enhance the focus on education, including school accreditation and school advisory councils

executes statutory initiatives such as the Tuition Support Program, private schooling, and home schooling

investigates, at the first stage, grievances under the Teachers Provincial Agreement, and chairs provincial and local placement committees pursuant to that agreement

promotes and administers programs for international students

co-ordinates annual Lieutenant Governor’s Medal Presentation ceremonies across N. S.

chairs the Minister’s Advisory Committee on Teacher Certification
