Parents as Career Coaches
Parents are the single greatest influence on their child's education and career decisions.
That's why the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development offers Parents as Career Coaches, a program offered at no cost to parents and guardians of junior and senior high school students across Nova Scotia.
This program equips parents to better support their children in making informed and successful education and career choices.
Middle/Junior High School Program
- This one session program is designed to help you begin to explore your child's interest, skills & personal qualities, which will help them eventually make career decisions.
Senior High School Program
- The two evening session helps parents understand the critical role they play in assisting their child to recognize their interests & unique talents.
- The sessions also explore what employers consider to be critical skills, qualities, and attitudes required in today's and tomorrow' labour market.
- When your children are getting ready to transition from high school to post-secondary or into the workforce, this program will help you and your child use career planning tools and explore opportunities that suit your child's interests and skills.
