Council to Improve Classroom Conditions – Expression of Interest for Teachers

The Council to Improve Classroom Conditions was established in February 2017, and includes nine teachers – three each from elementary, junior high/middle and high school.

Between now and February 2019, the terms for six of the nine members are ending.

To maintain the balance required in legislation, new members are needed for the following regions:

  • Your Regional Executive Director/Superintendent will select the member for your region from the expressions received.
  • Substitutes are provided to allow teachers to participate.
  • Members' expenses are covered at the rates provided for the public service.

The Council’s mandate is to focus on priorities including assessment and evaluation, attendance, complex classrooms and inclusion, technology and data collection and reporting.

The Council is co-chaired by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development and the Nova Scotia Teachers Union, and has three additional members appointed by the department.
