Grades 9-12
 
As youth transition from home to independent living, they have a need for food purchasing, preparation and cooking skills.

The YMCA of Southwest Nova Scotia and SchoolsPlus, is offering a free program to assist youth entering grades 9-12 and youth preparing for College/University or independent living. This 2-day program will cover important topics such as: basic food safety; budgeting tips; how to use leftovers and stretch meals; cooking shortcuts and simple meals on a budget; nutrition; healthier cooking; what you need in your pantry; and organic versus conventional foods.
All groceries, program materials and pantry supply kit will be provided.
Each participant will receive a complimentary cookbook and 2 meal cooking
packages to try at home.
