African Canadian Services
The African Canadian Services Division, located within the Public Schools Branch of the Nova Scotia Department of Education, was established in February of 1996 to implement the Department's response to the BLAC Report on Education, Redressing Inequity Empowering Black Learners. Council on African Canadian Education (CACE)

Correspondence Studies
Public school correspondence courses follow the Nova Scotia Public School Program curriculum and use textbooks and other resource materials from the Authorized Learning Resources. Correspondence Study is independent study. The course work is marked by certified teachers who understand the special needs and circumstances of students who study at home.

Tuition Support
The intention of this support is to provide options for students with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or Learning Disabilities (LD) to access education outside the framework of the public school system.
School Code of Conduct
The School Code of Conduct comprises principles,standards of behaviour and identification of disruptive behaviours, consequences of non-compliance and consequences specifically forbidden. Its purpose is to set the context for a safe and productive learning environment by setting standards for safe and caring schools.
You can register your child for public school at the local school they will attend, or you can register them at the regional or district school board office.
Students registering for Primary must be 5 years of age on or before December 31st of the calendar year in which they are being enrolled.
Parents of children turning five on or before Dec. 31 will be under no obligation to enroll their son or daughter in Primary next year. Parents can choose to wait if they believe their child is not ready to begin formal education.
You must show a Birth Certificate or Passport verifying this to school personnel.
