Applicants for a Level 1 Classification must provide proof of the following:

• Completion of the Orientation for Staff Working in Licensed Child Care Facilities
• Completion of course work inclusive of three courses in the following subject areas:
  • Child Development
  • Behaviour Guidance
  • Curriculum and Programming for Young Children
• Completion of two guided workplace experiences

With the exception of the Orientation, Level 1 training is delivered at the following training institutions:

• Nova Scotia College of Early Childhood Education (Halifax)
• Nova Scotia Community College (Distance Education)
• Universite Sainte-Anne

Classification de niveau 1 pour le personnel des garderies

Les personnes qui présentent une demande de classification de niveau 1 doivent fournir la preuve qu'elles ont :

• suivi le Programme d’initiation pour les personnes qui travaillent dans une garderie agréée;
• suivi un programme d’études comprenant trois cours dans les domaines suivants :
• • le développement de l'enfant,
  • la gestion du comportement,
  • l’élaboration de programmes pour la petite enfance;
• participé à deux expériences de travail guidées.

À l'exception du Programme d’initiation, la formation pour la classification de niveau 1 se donne dans les établissements d’enseignement suivants :

• Nova Scotia College of Early Childhood Education (Halifax)
• Nova Scotia Community College
• Université Sainte-Anne
