What is Orientation Training?
Orientation Training for Early Learning and Child Care is a free, online series of learning modules, knowledge checks, and resources for educators working directly with children in early learning and child care programs who do not meet the regulated training requirements under Section 37 of the Early Learning and Child Care Act and Regulations.
- Available throughout the province, in both French and English.
- Consists of 13 online interactive sessions.
- On completion of orientation participants may apply for an Entry Level Classification, or School Age Training Approval (with appropriate school age training).
How to Access Orientation Training?
Individuals must:
- Be a resident of Nova Scotia to register for the Orientation.
- Work in a regulated early learning and child care program, licensed child care facility, Pre-primary program, NS Before and After Program or be a provider for a Family Home Day Care Agency;
- Have been pre-approved by Classification Services to receive School Age Approval; or Have been pre-approved by Classification Services as an internationally educated learner.
Step 1: Register for Orientation Training by creating an account with ELCC Online.
Step 2: Visit https://elcconline.ednet.ns.ca/ to get started.

Qu’est-ce que le programme d’orientation?
Le programme d’orientation pour l’apprentissage et la garde des jeunes enfants est une série gratuite en ligne comprenant des modules d’apprentissage, des vérifications des connaissances et des ressources destinées aux éducateurs et éducatrices. Il s’adresse aux éducateurs et éducatrices travaillant directement auprès des enfants dans des programmes d’apprentissage et de garde des jeunes enfants qui n’ont pas suivi la formation exigée au paragraphe 37(7) du Early Learning and Child Care Regulations (traduction : Règlement sur l’éducation et la garde des jeunes enfants).
- Le programme est offert partout dans la province, en français et en anglais.
- Le programme comprend 13 séances interactives en ligne.
- Les participants, après avoir achevé le programme, peuvent demander une classification de niveau d’entrée ou une approbation pour le travail auprès des enfants d’âge scolaire.
